What is a dry birth?

A dry birth, also known as a silent birth, is when a pregnant woman experiences little to no amniotic fluid during the delivery process. This can occur for several reasons, such as premature rupture of membranes, meconium staining, or placental insufficiency.

A dry birth can be more challenging for both the mother and the baby as the lack of amniotic fluid can make it difficult for the baby to move through the birth canal. It can also increase the risk of umbilical cord compression and fetal distress.

In cases of a dry birth, medical interventions such as synthetic amniotic fluid may be used to help facilitate the delivery process. It is important for medical professionals to closely monitor the mother and baby during a dry birth to ensure their safety and well-being.
